I went online and found a Digital Foundry video between the PC and Wii U ports. The textures on the ground, particle effects, and shadows are much better on PC. Plus, playing at 4K natively is always a bonus. And the lighting you're talking about, that's the contrast being increased.

Grid 2 is on sale on Steam including all DLC for $12.49. It has a demo, so you can try it first. I suggest this just in case you want to buy a game that doesn't have Criterion drifting.
